WILLMAR — Becker Market, held every
Thursday afternoon in downtown Willmar, is averaging 30 to 40 vendors
per week, the Willmar Design
Center Board was told Thursday.
The market, sponsored by the Willmar Design Center, is an open-air
public market held on Becker Avenue Southwest between Fourth and Fifth
streets. The Willmar City Council voted to allow the Design Center
to close the street for the market, which runs from June 1 through
Sept. 28.
Lourdez Schwab, chair of the Becker Market Committee and a Design
Center board member, said the market is going well.
Garnering public interest
She said raspberries were for sale Thursday. Other vendors are selling
bakery and food products, vegetables and ethnic crafts and artwork.
Schwab said the market will be making room for more vendors who have
fresh produce for sale.
“We’ll be making accommodations for everybody because
that’s what Becker Market is about,’’ she said.
